What is Foot Reflexology?
With origins in ancient Egypt, India, and China, this modality became Westernized in 1913. It was introduced by William Fitzgerald as Zone Therapy before becoming Reflexology in the 1930s, refined by Eunice Ingham.
Reflexology is based on the concept that there are numerous reflex areas on the feet (and hands) which are related to corresponding organs and regions of the body. Applying pressure to these areas can reduce stress as well as relieve various acute and chronic conditions throughout the body.
What to expect
Typical Foot Reflexology sessions last about 30 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged. For obvious reasons, the feet will need to be exposed during this treatment. Many patients enjoy a reflexology session coupled with head/neck massage.
