Also based on Milton Trager’s method, the active component to the passive nature of Sensory Repatterning, this method focuses on teaching the body how to properly activate specific muscles. This is accomplished through various active resistance/assistance techniques applied to all parts of the body. The goal of this modality is to encourage revitalization of the nervous system which, in turn, will revitalize the muscle and joint relationship.
Typical ASRT sessions last 30 to 45 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged. The patient is asked to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing while receiving this form of bodywork. Sessions are typically performed on the table.
